      <description>I thought that too. But apparently the words are not related. Ocelot comes from (prepare yourself) tl&#257;l&#333;c&#233;l&#333;tl, which was apparently an arbitrary shortening of the Nahuatl (Aztec) word made from tl&#257;l(li) (earth, land) + &#333;c&#233;l&#333;tl (jaguar). Ocellated comes from Latin ocell&#257;tus, which means "having little eyes."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Who knew?</description>
