No, no, it doesn't have to be "edifying"! (HA!! Wait till you see some of the links on this site... You'll definitely want to keep your sense of humor.) I sensed you were appalled by the site, and thought that I might be as well. So if it's shocking, not for the faint of heart, or controversial, it might be good to mention that when you (very helpfully) post the URL or link on a word page. Just a friendly suggestion!

Thanks for clarifying. I appreciate it.

To me, words add to the joy of life. I believe language should tend to elevate the speaker and the listener. When I saw "toff" and did some Googleing, I came across some negative concepts about class structure in England. Not being familiar with the topic, I was appalled to see the site I am referring to. Must a word edify to be discussed here? I love all you wordsmiths and wordies out there! It is a joy to be here. I am a newbie to this site.

Logos? After your first statement, I'm thinking I might not want to visit that site. Can you explain a bit more about what's on there, and why the link might be useful for wordies eager for knowledge?

In Grafton street Master Dignam saw a red flower in a toff's mouth and a swell pair of kicks on him and he listening to what the drunk was telling him and grinning all the time.
Joyce, Ulysses, 10
