I should have been more clear in naming this list. The suffix "-cide" (killer or act of killing) is correct; we've got "genocide" instead of "genicide," for instance. It comes from the Latin caedere, which means to cut, cut down, strike, beat or kill. <a href="/words/Decide">Decide</a> is also derived from caedere, I think -- but not in the killing sense.
