Of course, there could be some regional variation in the interpretation of the 'two-syllable' condition.

Good point. I intentionally added a lot of negative words because the list description seemed to imply it wanted them. I guess by "powerful" I was interpreting it as destructive power. It's not that I was having a "tough day" yesterday, and I hope you're not reading anything into my psyche by those choices. If you want me to add a bunch of positive words for karmic balance, it's not a problem. ;-)

Added charm, seems to embody a personality trait that is very tangible.

I'm struck by the preponderance of aggressive or negative words on this list (e.g., spite, anger, lust, kill, vile, scum, fury). Certainly powerful words, though.

Added jab for boxing, for injections, for being such a short and blunt sounding word.

By the way--comments on why you find these words powerful or evocative would be most appreciated. See free, yes, or fire for examples.

This is fun...

Yikes! This list is growing quickly.

I'm trying to tag all the words with "2 by 5." The resulting cloud is interesting.

This is an experiment in public lists--something I've been thinking about for some time. The goal is to create a collection of short, powerful, evocative words.

Take a look...

EDIT: The list is now open to all; many thanks to John for making this possible.
