Supposedly it's where the plant buds, but since what we eat is actually a large unopened bud, I guess the eye of an artichoke is in the center of that part (were it to open). But what do I know? Anyone out there a plant expert?

Perhaps vegetarians should think twice about eating artichokes, with their eyes and hearts.:-)

I did too--but apparently artichokes do, in fact, have eyes.

Rib, peacock feather, artichoke, bolt, target (as in bull's-eye)? And I don't know whether a camera eye would count--I suppose it depends on your definition of sight. :-)
