Um, sionnach, you might never have ceiled or stotted, but some of us probably have.

Does 'never landing' work for you?
As in 'I don't know, I've never never landed'.

@roseandivy: The criterion for inclusion is that the apparent past tense obtained from the 'verb stem' preceding the 'ing' should not be legitimate.

Thus, fling doesn't belong on the list because, in answer to the question: "How do you like fl-ing?", the response "I don't know, I've never fled" actually makes sense. Similarly, the legitimacy of 'bred' and 'bled' as past tense formats rules out 'bring' and 'bling'.

Obviously, any -ing word obtained directly from a verb is ruled out a priori. Thus, for instance, I wouldn't include 'dwindling', as you have done on your list.

Don't know if that makes sense, or is just overly convoluted.

Oh, drat it all! And here I thought I was first to this idea with my list.
