Not a glamorous name but winter melon/wintermelon belongs here.

We have to teach the children, uselessness. :-P

I think I've seen champagne melons here, too. Sadly, though, no cabernet or pinot noir melons.

Cool, bilby: with a guinness melon and a champagne melon, we could concoct a black and tan melon, an exotic hybrid with strong anti-Republican tendencies.

I had a sprite melon once. It was tasty too! Cute little thing, yellowish skin with rather smooth ridges, smaller than a small cantaloupe. I don't know if that's their real name or some marketing thing, but... there it is.

Yeah, the champagne melon stand is right up there next to the pademelon booth.

In Australia they sell something called a champagne melon which is like a watermelon with a pale yellow colour. Tastes quite yellow.

Couple of Tagalog words for you: upo's a kind of calabash, kundol is a long gourd I think.

I saw things called galia melons from Brazil in the supermarket yesterday. Probably fruit.

There's also bitter gourd or bitter melon, same momordica I think; apparently cerasse in Jamaica but reggae gives me a headache.

Glad you like it! When I found cocozelle yesterday, I was immediately diverted to gourds and melons. I suspect more are lurking, probably in Asian markets.
