Bears must hear differently.
Despite the fact that I agree with chained_bear, I have to give this round to bilby, on the grounds that he is awesome. :-)
bilby is digging up all sorts of oldies today. :)
Dear chained_bear,
We write to remind you that your six-monthly hearing of the word angel is now overdue. As we believe this may be a simple oversight on your behalf, we urge you to rectify the situation immediately. Astral beings are somewhat loathe to resort to Union action but we wish to underline our position that this option remains on the table. Or floating slightly above it.
Yours ethereally,
The Angel Recognition League
God rest ye, Jerry mental men!
Happy 100th list, c_b!

In 7 months' time you'll be hearing from my buddies at the Angel Recognition League. Be ready ;-)
Well, I think we hear the words "angel" and "cracker" throughout the year, in different contexts. My hope with this list was that I'd read it seven months from now and think "Yeah, that's definitely a word (or phrase) I haven't heard in seven months."
Wot, no angel? Me also members crackers/bonbons, those odd things that spew a pop, a paper hat, a useless plastic toy and a bad (usually) joke.
Figgy pudding. (Just what is that, anyway?..)
"And it came to pass..."
Thanks rolig! I have a couple of those already--or variations thereof--but I added a bunch of them. I was just thinking about the cattle lowing this morning and decided not to add it, but since apparently I'm not alone... Added!
Merry century c_b!
great list! Here are a few more:

hanukkah
cattle are lowing (do cattle low at any other time of the year?)
god rest ye
