"Kid" works pretty well for non-gender-specifics.
Peroffspringtrionics? Perheirtrionics? Perissuetrionics? Perbroodtrionics?
Perscionstrionics?
But of course, John. I was completely 'woodnought' - spookily added at about the same moment as your suggestion.
perchild?
Point taken sionnach. What's the word for 'son or daughter'? As in 'father or mother = parent'. I can't find one. Perhaps we need a list for 'words we still need'.
Meanwhile, after chained_bear's story on 'shitnought' perhaps
'perspawnstrionics'?
Or maybe
'peroffspringstrionics'
Or
'perbegottenstrionics'.
Always remembering that 'person' here replaced 'his' so we could get ecstatically complicated. Or should that be complex.
Sionnach, I think I'm in love with you.
Shouldn't the name of this list be perdaughterstrionics?
Agreed, John. "PC" has taken on negative connotations, but it doesn't erase the fact that sexism exists. I mentioned tarassis here in part to draw attention to that (see the note on that page). Funny that the word isn't better known....
Some of this shit is funny, but it doesn't change my opinion that there's a lot of real sexism both embedded in and revealed by language. Appreciating that isn't so much PC as just C.
In the context that we all weave here it just works on so many levels, no, in so many dimensions.
Why thanks, gangerh. Just a little word I pulled from my list of obscurities. :-)
reesetee ........ Oh Oooh Oooooh that is lovely, lovely, delightful play. A double, double, double at least.
That is undoubtedly the best contextual comment I've seen here on Wordie yet. That is pure wordcraftspersonship.
So...no tarassis here either, gangerh?
