Well, we know he certainly wasn't a COD...'tho maybe a CAD!
Perhaps, through long observation of the multifarious forms life takes, he came to believe in the existence of the MONAD.
This raises some questions about Old MacDonald. He was a MAN, but was he a DAD? Or an ex-CON? Did he go MAD from all the noise?
Hey m.! That's a new wrinkle. Seems good to me; go for it!
Oroboros, do items like "macdOnaLD" qualify?
Okay gang here's the joey-antonym list...
Thanks to all for the suggestions.
How about giANT? (Kangaroo word with joey antonym, if you ever start that list).
I'm wanting to add revolutionary (REVOLuTionary) but I feel like it's probably cheating. So I won't.
What about cause and effect? PANdemIC.
Excellent, sionnach! I'm feeling most edified about it all right now. ;o)
Ah, crossword puzzles. Gotta love 'em. :-)
Just as a single mommy kangaroo can give birth to twin joeys, in rare cases joey has multiple mommies:
Example - irate shares the ancestors infuriated and irritated
sly: slippery stealthy slinky
dead: deceased departed decapitated decayed
Obviously, it is the little runty words that are more likely to have multiple parents (it takes a village and all that)
So joey-antonyms would be something like friend/fiend, or cremate/create or pest/pet?
I just finished a NYT X-word (Derrick Niederman & Will Shortz--no date) that used it as a theme and I figured Wordies would be able to come up with a lot more. The puzzle claims that kangaroo word is in the dictionary but I had no luck finding same. It is in Wikipedia, however. :o)
A spinoff that I haven't seen would be kangaroo words where the antonym is carried in the joey-pocket!
I second that--what a great idea. How'd you come up with this, o?
Thanks c_b. And I figured that sionnach would waste no time in finding more. If you don't wanna add 'em sionnach, I will...
Oroboros, this is an awesome list idea, and I especially love the title. :)
Cool list.
