I have deliberately chosen those terms and names in the Harry Potter books which had the greatest diversity in translation, because the choices that different translators make fascinate me. It's not surprising that the names of key figures like Harry, Hermione, Draco Malfoy and Severus remain constant - these are the folks that define the franchise, in some sense. But who would have expected so much fun in ringing the changes on "Moaning Myrtle", or with the Lord V....... anagrams?
Not to mention the Pigwidgeon variants, or - my current favorite - smekkies in alle smaken, which is what prompted me to start this list in the first place.

I will continue to add language identifier tags to individual entries on the list as time allows.
