Thanks mollusque!
Io, meaning "a cry of joy", is allowed in British but not American Scrabble. It's also a kind of Hawaiian hawk and short for io moth.
*snort*. You're comedic!
E I E IO
What other form is Io found in?
I think proper nouns are only disallowed when that is the only form in which they are found.
But it's a proper noun. I thought they weren't allowed?
My grandmother always kicks my ass at Scrabble. I hate it. I once used the word 'Io' and she thought I was full of shit, so I grabbed the unabridged dictionary from the shelf and found it in there, much to her surprise. It is one of Jupiter's moons.
