Don't remind me.
Well it's about TIME! What, you had a job to do or something? ;->
Okay, all good suggestions, and added. ;-)
Yikes, I spend the day in meetings, and come back to find my list has become quite the hangout! Alas, I have to run... I'll add your suggestions in the morning!
PAST HISTORY. *shakes people by the lapels*
Great list.
re: tuna fish - this may not be redundant in a place where Cactus Apple (second illustration) is also on the menu.
Eeek!
Oh, I remember now! The question, by nurse, doctor or other healthcare worker, "Do you have a past history of n?"
Drives me batshit.
Did I? I may have. I don't remember either, reesetee! :)
Speaking of things that I don't remember, there's a redundancy I hear in the doctor's office that annoys me, but I can't quite recall it. Something to do with health history.
How about closer proximity? Or, if X is in the proximity of Z; Y is in close proximity...
At times, virtual experience, as distinguished from actual experience, is an appropriate usage, n'cest pas?
A haven for crooks is not a safe haven for the law-abiding.
Tuna fish! I'm guilty of saying it sometimes when I can't stop my mouth quickly enough.
Also, actual experience, close proximity, and foreign import. Eesh.
You know, colleen, I think you mentioned that before. *brain like a sieve*
An "agreement" can have dissenters. Mutual agreement, presumably, has none.
No, in law. But I worked in bookstores for many years. :)
Colleen, are you "in books" too? :-)
isbn number. *shudder*
What a great list!
Excellent ones, thanks all!
chai tea?
I've always been intrigued with: "it goes without saying..." and "needless to say..." as redundant fillers.
How about "I personally"?
This is a great list.
Technically you're right, seanahan, but it's still redundant. Not to mention the fact that people use this phrase to clarify that they don't mean midnight, in reference to an event that would almost surely never occur at midnight, so no clarification was really needed. I'd say this is true at least 90% of the time it's used.
"Let's meet for lunch at 12:00. Uh... noon."
But you don't need to clarify 12 with noon unless you've been in a windowless space for a few days and/or your circadian rhythm is way off...
What is wrong with 12:00 noon? Some one asks what time, you say 12, think for a moment, and clarify with noon. Sure, you could have just said to start with, but when reading a clock, the brain has an easier time saying the number than saying "noon".
or a bigger list of peeves...strategic plan
Truly, you are more creative than I. I'm fresh out of ideas. :-)
honest truth. bare naked. unexpected suprise.
Excellent, thanks for those. Keep 'em coming!
favorited!
added bonus? free gift? 12 noon? kill -something- dead? GPS system?
eek!
Good one!
