Who's in? Leave a comment on this page if you want to join our ranks! (Or to remove yourself from them, but that's sad.) If you're not on the list, you can't play!
And I'd be glad to join in the fun tomorrow, except that I'm off to the Midwest to help a friend celebrate a birthday. Life and time zones always seem to get in the way, don't they? :-)
I should have mentioned I have an all-day meeting tomorrow. My schedule is seldom favorable to spontaneous fun. :-( But don't let me ruin things for y'all.
My summer break starts on Wednesday. Unforeseen circumstances will give me a much freer schedule than I'd anticipated, so we could get this moving again. Takers?
Oh, hadn't made the connection. No, there wouldn't be a problem with two things having the same name on a technical level, since each list is referenced internally by a unique ID number. But if you'd prefer another name, suggest away. I was just tossing an idea out there.
Just so you know: Alphabet Soup is the title of one my lists. Can't imagine it would create any problems but you'd know better than I. I've no objection, anyway.
The game duration is up to you... though considering I don't have web access at home, the beginning of a three-day weekend would be a pretty lousy time for a long game for me.
As for a name for our new game, I vote for Alphabet Soup. :-)
I WISH this afternoon were slow. Unfortunately, the work tsunami has arrived late this week. I won't be able to make it--but maybe I can stop by for the trophy ceremony. :-)
Where are all the other listees, anyway? Chained_bear? Jazz? AZ? Oroboros? John? Hmm....
Alright, I'm in. Sort of the same conditional in-ness as last time, unfortunately, but I was available last time too (problem is, Wordie wasn't). So I'll wager that I'll be around this time too. Especially since my office is taking Monday off, I expect the end of the week will be pretty slow here.
We should probably wipe the "Compendium: Round 2" list and use it for this game, since that game never really happened.
You're saying that every word is only made of those three letters? Or can you add more letters too? For example, if the letters are A, C, and T, would all the words end up like cat? Or could you use tobacco?
Ooo! I saw a new game at the store the other day. You choose three letters and players try to come up with as many words as they can using those letters. I feel as though somebody may have mentioned it before, but it's been awhile. What do you think?
'Fraid I'm not that crazy. :-) I'm available M-F from 8:15-5:00 MST. Actually, I take my computer home on Friday, so I can play any time Friday night or over the weekend. You kids have fun without me this time... I'll jump in eventually.
I'm also wracking my brain trying to come up with other games besides Compendium that we might want to try.
John: I'm not sure what degree of work you'd be willing to do... if a lot, it would be awesome to make game lists contributable by a group of players rather than by one person, with a way to note which user added each word. The list would still have an "owner," with certain (but not all) permissions granted to or retracted from whomever the owner wanted.
If that's too extreme, a simpler thing that would help us a lot would be a way to use RSS to notify people of upcoming games. We don't really have a good way to announce them yet. Glad to have you aboard!
I'm happy to play today, or to wait until Monday. It's up to you guys.

Sigh. Yes, an unavoidable bit of reality, isn't it:)
Yes, we came came to that conclusion before, but you see... therein lies the rub. ;-)
I would imagine that we will need to figure out a time that is good for all of us, since we all have commitments and are in different time zones.
I should have mentioned I have an all-day meeting tomorrow. My schedule is seldom favorable to spontaneous fun. :-( But don't let me ruin things for y'all.
As the newcomer, I defer to the rest of you.
We should also blog about this on Errata. I'm on my way out the door...maybe tomorrow sometime? I'm happy to moderate or play any game.
Hooray! What do y'all wanna play?
Hey, U--good to see you.
I wanna play too. We're long overdue!
Me too!
Seriously, we should consider a game, soonish. Anybody have one in particular they'd like to play?
I'm always around, albeit in an iffy sort of way. :-)

We can always modify the game to last over several days. Maybe something similar to a stuffie?
You can change the name of an existing list. That's what I meant. Oh well, no biggie. See you here at 2:00. That's 4:00 your time. ;-)

Oh, but we're not playing Compendium. I was too lazy to think of a name, so I called the list New Game. Suggestions are welcome!
I will clean out round two though, just in case somebody actually wants to use it.

Friday works for me. 4-4:30pm, EST? Anyone? I've said it before: you *know* you don't get work done on Friday afternoons.
I like it! (So when do you want to host it, hint hint)
Yes, any word that includes those three letters. Tobacco would be fine, as would tack, catatonic, etc.
We could either score one point per word, or one point per target letter.

John,
We would be beholden to you if you would blog about the game. uselessness and I have been looking for new ways to advertise.
:) Jen
