Wow, Li'l Abner--what a blast from the past! I don't remember Joe Btfsplk, but I do remember Sadie Hawkins (of course), Shmoo, and Fearless Fosdick.
To tell the truth, though, that comic strip always gave me the heebie jeebies.

We always said, "three snaps up", while snapping our fingers three times. I suppose it's more akin to "snap", now that I think of it. :)
