Thanks, pomegranate! Skipvia, I presume you're not referring to Avalon, NJ? ;-) (Added--it is a beautiful word.)
You're right, reesetee... great list! :-)
I've always loved stories about Avalon. Even the name is evocative...
Thanks, sionnach!
the doldrums? sin city? skid row? shangri-la? the twilight zone? ground zero? death row? the ivory tower? the groves of academe? never-never land? brigadoon? serendip?
Both already listed! (Lonely Avenue rather than Lonely Street.)
Lonely Street and Heartbreak Hotel (Thanks, Elvis!)
Thanks, m! In addition to the Coleridge poem, Xanadu reminds me of my graduate years--the university had just completed a huge, state-of-the-art student center, which one of my English lit professors called the Stately Pleasure-Dome. :-)
Left field? The Gulag Archipelago? Xanadu?
Thanks! Great suggestions. :-)
Here's some places to visit: slippery slope, cloud nine, and my favorite, the funny farm.
Strawberry Fields?
How about la-la land?
Ah yes, you're right. Excuse me.
Already listed, TSB. :-)
How about The Hotel California?
77 Sunset Strip...off Route 66?
Between the devil and the deep blue sea?
Also heard lonely avenue on a song lyric...
Ah yes. How could I have forgotten Memory Lane? ;-) Thanks.
Yesterday I took a stroll down Memory Lane.
I like that one, palooka. Added. Also adding the phrase from whence it came. :-)
Great list! An unforeseen but common destination is between a rock & a hard place.
You're quite welcome, SoG. Feel free to inspire a list of mine any day. :-)
Ooh! Thanks, colleen! Meant to add that one.
final destination, ultima thule?
I am touched. This is a great idea for a list!
Yeah, I have points for that hotel.
Trivet, only if we stay at the Heartbreak Hotel. They have free Continental breakfast, but it sucks.
:-D
Okay, so this list is favorited.
Sure! We'll get there via the Boulevard of Broken Dreams.
Woo-hoo! Can we stop at lonesome town before we hit the pit of dispair?
