Biblical language *is* powerful in some ways, not always because of the context. For one thing, it's usually archaic and/or esoteric, which makes it atypical in terms of everyday speech. And like other atypical speech, archaic and esoteric language certainly have the power to make everyone in the room stop talking when they hear it, if only to figure out if someone's pronouncing something correctly--or what the hell they meant.

Try using chasuble in everyday conversation, for example. Or calumny.
