this place is stupid
Wordie, however, remains one of the coolest concepts for a site ever.
i don't understand the meaning or purpose of the site please explain!!!
I found wordie the other day and I'm so fucking hooked it's not even FUNNY.
Wordie will be the first network to become self-aware and consume the planet, SkyNet style. At least the Scrabulous regions of said planet.
Directed towards a very specific niche of people who get giddy thrills out of the inherent beauty and elegance of words and language, enjoy exploring the history and etymology of words, and fill the vacuum with witty banter.
"Besides having the best tagline ever, Wordie lets you build potentially huge lists of words, so you can keep track of them in one place.... It's a simple premise, but it's well executed and surprisingly addictive, as evinced by its rapid growth since release."
"Wordie sounds like the least interesting site ever. Share your favorite words with your friends? That has to be the most moronic idea for a site in the last 10 years."
"One of my Internet Obsessions is the website Wordie."
"I am OBSESSED with Wordie."
"I've seen some pretty odd Web 2.0 sites, but this might take the cake."
"What if LibraryThing and Flickr had kids? Wordie."
"I am new to this site, and pleasantly bewildered."
"This site is the most useless piece of crap ever created."
"It's a word lovers' site through and through, and since you're reading words right now, it could be for you."
"Fun for nerds."
"It's the most fun that you can have with a dictionary and your clothes on."
"The assumed universality of such terms is deeply rooted in the globalized English, that here is sorted out with unexpected educational effects. So the crowded and heterogeneous community enthusiastically shares lists of words and knowledge while the non-mother tongue ones can expand learning-by-reading their personal lexicon."
"It's better than tag searches on You Tube. What could it be? It's Wordie."
"...a pretty fun way to expand your vocabulary.."
"I think I just found my favorite social networking site."
"imho wordie is a must have if 90% of your time passes by browsing sites whose language are not your mother language."
"...the joke, it seems, was on Mr. McGrath: Some of Wordie's early adopters took the site's concept more seriously than its creator."
"Until you've tried it out, you'd never believe social word-listing could be so fun."
"It really is nice to know there are more people like me in the world."
"Odd little social network."
"If you are a word buff, a writer, blogger, or just a language nut, you'll love doing this stupid activity till you're blue in the face."
"Well, it just goes to show that a picture is worth (at least) 1000 words, since Wordie seems pretty pointless to me."
"It's silly but somehow addicting in the way Flickr is addicting."
"Hands down the dumbest thing I have ever seen reviewed on this site."
"The greatest website ever: Wordie.org. I love this site far too much."
"It's amazing what is still left to be done with text."
"This Wordie thing WINS at life."
"It is a bookish girl's dream."
"I see this site as being even more useless and time-wasting than most social software, but preliminarily, I'm a bit addicted"
"I don't understand the point of this website."
OK, this is something that has to be a sign of nerdiness, but I love Wordie!. Very cool idea.
"surprisingly addictive... the concept is so simple it borders on boring."
"For extreme logophiles, you now have Wordie."
"Wordie rox."
"I'm not convinced this has practical applications."
"Another timewaster courtesy of my cool HIEROPHANTIC friend John ..."
"Pointless and lovely."
"mmm, words."
"I have fallen in love with Wordie, a tool? toy? a thinger where you make lists of words."
"Wordie has to be one of the silliest projects I've ever imagined of."
"Go over to Wordie and make a list so I can meet you and our souls can be infused as one."
"...social networking with literate lists..."
"The premise is so simple that you can't possibly suspect you'll get sucked into it until it's too late."
"Wordie is kind of cool. Goofy and cool."
"Passionate about words? Check out wordie."
"A logophile like me cannot help but be drawn into this site..."
"Yeah, I'm a dork."
"It's a deeply silly idea, but I love that he did it."
