Hollywood's recent memetic usage of this word is beyond ridonkulous.
That spelling is pretty odd. I would tend to say the word was first used by someone else, as the date of first attestation isn't necessarily the first usage.
Research suggests that this word first appeared in 1998, on Usenet, in a Backstreet Boys fan group.

Author happens not to be my uncle.
If you create something that is entirely new to you, could that not be called inventing even if—unbeknownst to you—someone else invented it already?
Well, I didn't invent ridonkulous and nor do I claim to have done any such thing, which debunks that theory anyway.
Someone had to have invented it. How do you know who it was?
How do you know I didn't?
Everyone and his uncle claims to have invented this word. You didn't.
