I think I'll start using this as a sarcastic insult when someone is being a pedantic tech knowitall:

person: "You know, if you used a firewire cable, that drive wouldn't need to be plugged in."

me: "Uh, thanks clippy. Whatever."

Clippy's official Microsoft name was "Clippit", and it was part of Office in version 97 through 2007, when it was discontinued due to the fact that it is universally hated.
