  • A demon who is a grand general of Hell and commander of the second legion. He is said to hold sway over Europe and Asia Minor and to control the past and future. He possesses the power to discover all secrets and is especially good at stirring up enmity and distrust among men. He is one of two demons directly under Lucifer; Satanachia is the other. Also called Agalierap and Agalierept. (Wikipedia)

  • All these demons seem to be remarkable well organized - Grand General, President, Grand Duke, commander of second legion, etc. It's sort of like the Freemasons isn't it?

  • In the sense of organized esotericness, definitely.

With demons, there's a number of books throughout the ages that organize, describe, and describe how one might communicate/summon these creatures. In general, the practice is regarded as faustian in nature, that is, one is to sacrifice a part of themselves to gain the 'powers'.

Freemasons are more like a fraternity (or old boys club) these days, although steeped into a history of bizarre philosophy and initiation rituals. 'Dark' but certainly not demonic.

  • No, I was being facetious, you're right about the masons. I meant that the demons are like the masons rather than the other way around!

I think it would be fun to write a story about hell, from the perspective of a lower-middle ranking demon of the officer class, a subaltern if you will. Sort of like an infernal Catch 22. It's probably already been done.

  • Ahaha, yes, 'hell' would certainly be a möbius strip of clusterfuckage.
