A large honeycreeper with a slightly downcurved, sharp bill and distinctive forward-curving crest of stiff, white feathers on its forehead, the akohekohe is mostly black, streaked and spotted with orange-red and silvery-grey. Endemic to Maui but listed as critically endangered; extinct on Molokai.
