I was just coming here to add a late "happy Bloomsday" note. You beat me to it, John. :-)

Thanks, bilby! Ulysses was soooo very difficult for me. I understand the Susans so much better!

Due to a couple of recent turns in wordie action, I'll be taking a break. I don't speak Japanese or, apparently, enough French. As for the other, well, it doesn't make me laugh.

Ciao :-), I'll be on the porch.

Poor Susans :-(

The day on which the events of Ulysses take place is 16 June (1904). Hence Bloomsday from Leopold Bloom, main character of Joyce's work.

Is it Michael's birthday?
Does something bloom today? Maybe hydrangeas, up north? I'm between blooms right now, although the Black-eyed Susans are going to pop soon...

What IS bloomsday? It sounds nicer than doomsday...
