In conversation last night about this page, the links on it--particularly this year's winner--and the lovely pictures linked to bloomin' dildo, the term dikebana was coined.

Isn't whether something is wide or long dependent on what angle you're looking at it from?

Fingers, legs, arms, hairs, intestines, highways, spaghetti, skis...

Lots of things are longer than they are wide and aren't phallic. I can think of one in particular that, if you have one, would pretty much guarantee you are female.

But isn't it also wider than it is long?

Just apply the phallic criterion: "is it longer than it is wide?"; if the answer is affirmative, then yes.

Can the internet be considered phallic?

I have to wonder if the designer was trying to put one over on us, assuming that most people wouldn't immediately say "Gosh, that looks like a hard ___, ___ing into a _____!!" Because, truly, he/she could NOT have POSSIBLY ...
