So this is the Yupik equivalent of y'all? ;-)

Here is the Yupik pronunciation: b'yook jee

There is a slight accent on "yook," and "yook" is very guttural.

I learned today that this form is plural and is usually used when saying goodbye to a group. "Piura" (b'yook ah) is used when addressing an individual.

I never left, c_b. I just decided that I would comment only if I had anything useful to say, and it turns out I rarely do.

I've never actually heard piurci used in speech--I've only seen it written down. The transliteration of Yupik is very tricky. I have a call in to a friend of mine on the correct pronunciation and I'll send it along when I get it. Many of my students use it when they communicate with my via their blogs or e-mail as a closing.

skipvia! you're back!

This is a very useful word. I'm going to memorize it. How is it pronounced?

Yupik. Literally, "keep on keepin' on."

Good advice...
