Apparently a favorite of Jules Verne, or at least his translators, describing sundry characters, by my remembrance, in "From the Earth to the Moon", "Around the Moon", "Journey to the Center of the Earth", "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea", "The Mysterious Island", and "In Search of the Castaways".
